Bio

Concepta (a name which is a reference to the Virgin Mary and the Immaculate Conception) was born in Cape Town and raised in Durban, South Africa.

Starting at the age of 5, she was part of worship teams at Church and featured as lead vocalist at numerous local venues. Studying music at school and receiving professional vocal lessons, Concepta always knew music was part of her purpose on earth. Her teen years were spent performing throughout South Africa then later toured countries like Zimbabwe, Dubai, Bahrain, and Egypt as the Headlining Act for several major hotel chains including the Hilton and Marriott.

Concepta arrived in the United States in 2001. The 11 plus years spent in New York City were filled with bittersweet memories and life lessons. Through the many joys, trials, and tribulations, not only did she become stronger but she also learned more about her path and purpose. Her passions, gifts, and talents all came together as she grew stronger in Christ.

Like lots of young girls, Concepta dreamed of becoming a “Pop Star” however with numerous opportunities and experiences throughout her career, she didn’t feel comfortable with the industry’s direction for her sound or image. The industry’s definition of  “success” didn’t quite line up with Concepta’s values and beliefs. “I don’t believe I need to present a sexual image to be considered beautiful. Nor do I need to sing about sex or use profanity to have a ‘powerful’ song. I’m not perfect, but I prefer being true to myself about who I am”, says Concepta

Concepta’s vision, “I Am! I Can!” speaks precisely to that.

I Am a beautiful creation in Christ” and “I Can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!”

Now with the East Coast (Maine) as her new home, Concepta continues her journey as a Wife, Mother, and Life Coach. Through her music and sharing her personal story, she educates, empowers and inspires young girls to love, respect and embrace themselves as the beautiful, powerful people God created them to be.

“It all starts with knowing who you truly are. Your identity in Christ and not allowing anything or anyone to tell you differently” ~ Concepta
